First Touchdown Scorer Prop Bets for Chiefs vs. Jaguars on Monday Night Football

Updated:

By: Garion Thorne

After two disappointing losses to begin the season, the Chiefs have righted the ship with victories over the Giants and the Ravens. Now, Week 5 will end with a somewhat unexpected test, as Kansas City will travel to Jacksonville to take on the 3-1 Jaguars on Monday Night Football.

Can Jacksonville prove its mettle against the perennial Super Bowl contenders? More importantly: Who will score the first touchdown in tonight’s game? Let’s break down the odds on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Chiefs vs. Jaguars First Touchdown Scorer Prop Bets

Travis Etienne Jr. First Touchdown Scorer (+700)

I generally try and avoid the player with the lowest odds on the board, but +700 isn’t an awful number to get for an asset that has been as involved as Travis Etienne has been so far in 2025. Coming into Week 5, Etienne was leading the NFL in rushing yards per game (98.5) — not bad for a former first-round pick who many left for dead following an underwhelming campaign in 2024. Crucially, at least for the purposes of this prop, Etienne has also been hyper-utilized near the goal line through four games. Not only does Etienne have more than triple the red zone rushing attempts of any other skill position player on the Jaguars’ roster, but he’s also tied for the team lead in red zone targets (3). He’ll be looking to find the end zone for a third straight week on Monday and I think he’ll get it done early.

JuJu Smith Schuster First Touchdown Scorer (+1900)

The Chiefs don’t really employ a WR1, so there really isn’t anyone in the receiving corps that is generating a breathtaking target share. Heck, even Travis Kelce (+950) has only seen 22 targets in the first four weeks of the season, as Patrick Mahomes (+1900) has looked to spread the love. Still, here are a couple things we do know. First, a whopping 70.0% of Kansas City’s touchdowns this season have come through the air. Second, JuJu Smith-Schuster leads all Chiefs wideouts in snap share (74.4%) and he’s juuuuust behind Hollywood Brown (+1300) in total routes. In fact, Smith-Schuster has run a route on 93.0% of his passing snaps through the opening four weeks of 2025. Maybe the move here is to simply bet Mahomes for first touchdown scorer, as he’s known for his ability to scramble near the goal line and currently leads Kansas City in red zone rushing attempts (6). However, if you’re looking for a pass catcher, Smith-Schuster’s odds are tempting given his established role.
