Hunter Henry best prop bets for Bills vs. Patriots on Sunday Night Football Week 5

By: Sean Barnard

The New England Patriots will travel to Buffalo to face the Bills and conclude the Week 5 Sunday slate. Hunter Henry and company will be looking for an upset over their AFC East rivals, who are off to a 4-0 start to the year. The Patriots hold a 2-2 record and have had some early ups and downs on the field to properly reflect this record.

Looking at the odds on DraftKings Sportsbook, the Bills enter as 8.5-point favorites and hold -440 odds on the moneyline. The Patriots hold +340 odds of getting the outright victory, with the game total set at O/U 49.5 points.

There are plenty of ways to get involved in the action outside of backing a side or total. This article will look at my top Hunter Henry prop bets ahead of tonight’s Week 5 Sunday Night Football matchup.

Hunter Henry to Record 5+ Receptions (+119)

It has been a strong start to the season for Hunter Henry. Through the opening four games, he leads the team with 24 targets, which he has turned into 15 receptions for 204 yards and three touchdowns. New England has had very different results in the passing game in their wins and losses this season. In the two wins, Henry has just three catches for 48 yards. In the pair of losses, he has pulled in 12 receptions for 156 yards. The Patriots enter as 8.5-point underdogs and likely will not have the luxury of keeping the ball on the ground in this matchup.

Buffalo has been impressive in defending the pass this season. They rank 17th in points allowed and ninth in yards given up overall, but have allowed the fewest passing yards and fewest yards per pass attempt. For full context, some of this has had to do with the matchups as the Bills have most recently faced Spencer Rattler, Tua Tagovailoa, and Justin Fields/Tyrod Taylor at the quarterback position. Through the first four weeks of the season, Drake Maye is leading the NFL with a 74.0% completion percentage. He has not reached his peak as a player yet, but Fields has a floor level of play above what has been seen against the Bills in recent weeks.

Expect the Patriots to have some issues moving the ball downfield, but this plays to Hunter Henry’s favor. Count on it being a clear focus to get Maye in a rhythm and attack in the short areas of the field in the early portions of the game. Henry leads the team in targets to this point, and this should continue in this matchup. Rather than look at his yardage prop, I am backing the +119 odds of Henry to pull in five receptions.

Hunter Henry Anytime Touchdown (+220)

Drake Maye has seven passing touchdowns this season, with Hunter Henry having pulled in three of these. He has pulled in 43 touchdowns in his career and will continue to be one of New England’s top red zone options throughout this season. Henry has scored touchdowns in back-to-back weeks, even while the Patriots only threw the ball 18 times last week.

Buffalo ranks first in passing yards allowed, but 13th in passing touchdowns conceded. There is a clear connection between Maye and Henry, with this especially evident around the goal line. The Arkansas product has been targeted six times in the red zone already this season, with no other member of the Patriots having more than three. He will likely slow down at some point, but the tight end is on pace to record 64 catches for 867 receiving yards and 13 scores this season. The Bills rank second in the NFL in scoring, and the Patriots are going to need to put up points if they are to have a chance in this matchup.

Expect Henry to see some attempts sent his direction in the red zone, and getting +220 odds for the team’s leading touchdown scorer is great value. Expect Maye to continue counting on his standout right end in the passing game and for Henry to add to his touchdown total tonight.
