The latter of the two has been dominant through four games, notching 490 yards from scrimmage and five scores. Still, the two-time Pro Bowler isn’t a lock to reach the end zone tonight. New England has allowed 3.3 yards per rush attempt to opponents, tied for the second-lowest mark in football.
If anyone other than Cook is going to pick up six, it’s Allen. The quarterback’s arm might be the best in all of football. However, he’s just as capable of hurting defenses on the ground. The reigning MVP has already earned three rushing touchdowns. In addition, he ranks second on the team with 11 carries in the red zone. In a marquee matchup, Buffalo’s face of the franchise could will his way to an early TD.
Rhamondre Stevenson First Touchdown Scorer (+1300)
Let’s go with more of a long-shot pick for the visitors. Granted, Rhamondre Stevenson has the highest odds of any Patriots player at +1300. That reflects the state of flux that this offense is in. Contrary to what fans and pundits expected, rookie Trayveon Henderson has not taken control of New England’s backfield. Instead, it’s been Stevenson serving as the team’s de facto RB1. In three of his four outings, the fifth-year pro has commanded a snap share of at least 57%.
Granted, that level of work has yet to result in a touchdown from Stevenson. Regardless, this could be the perfect chance for his first score of the season. Unlike New England, Buffalo’s run defense is porous at best. The AFC East leaders have surrendered 164.3 rushing yards per game, second-most in the NFL. Stevenson is currently pacing the Patriots with a team-high six carries in the red zone. If that level of usage continues tonight, it’s only a matter of time until the veteran breaks through.
