Major League Baseball has a pair of great games lined up for this Sunday, with the two American League Division Series continuing with Game 2. The Blue Jays won at home on Saturday, while the Tigers got a win on the road in extra innings. The Blue Jays and Tigers will look to take a commanding, 2-0 lead, while the Yankees and Mariners will try to level their series at 1-1. Even with only four tames in the player pool, plenty of strong DFS fantasy baseball options are worth considering from all across the salary spectrum. Trey Yesavage, Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Yankees, $7,500: Yesavage only made three starts for the Blue Jays this season, but he has a very high upside as he makes the biggest start of his career on Sunday afternoon. Yesavage went 5-1 in his 25 games in the minors this season, with a 3.12 ERA, 2.52 FIP, and a completely dominant 160 strikeouts in 98 innings.
In the majors, Yesavage went 1-0 with a 3.21 ERA and 2.35 FIP, posting 20+ fantasy points in two of those outings. He went five innings in each of those successful starts, with 14 strikeouts in 10 innings in those two outings against the Rays. He has a tougher matchup against the Yankees, for sure, but the 22-year-old righty brings an extremely high ceiling with his strikeout upside, and that potential also can help compensate for any runs he allows, giving him a high floor as well.
INFIELD
Stud
Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Yankees, $4,800: Guerrero went 3-for-4 in Game 1, with a home run and two RBI. He racked up 22 fantasy points in that game and will look to keep on racking up despite a tough matchup against lefty Max Fried ($8,500). Guerrero hit an explosive .326 against lefties on the season with eight doubles, six homers, and a .404 wOBA in the splits. At home against lefties, he was even better with a .326 batting average and .445 wOBA at home against southpaws.
In this specific matchup, Guerrero is 5-for-20 (.250) with three doubles against Fried.
Value
Colt Keith, Detroit Tigers at Seattle Mariners, $2,600: Keith is a great bargain option at 3B if he’s in the lineup for Game 2. He made his return after missing the Wild Card series with a rib injury. Keith went 1-for-2 with three fantasy points from the designated hitter spot in Game 1, but he was pinch-hit for in the sixth against lefty Caleb Ferguson.
Keith hit safely in seven of his last eight regular-season games before the injury with a double, a home run, and a .413 wOBA. He’ll be matched up against Luis Castillo ($7,000), who has held righties to a .212 average but let lefties like Keith hit .278 with a .352 wOBA.
OUTFIELD
Stud
Riley Greene, Detroit Tigers at Seattle Mariners, $4,200: Another lefty I really like in the night game is Greene, especially since this salary leaves you lots of options above and below him in the outfield. Greene had two hits in Game 1 after going 4-for-11 in the Wild Card Series with a pair of doubles.
Despite only hitting .195 in September, he did have four homers in his last 16 contests. Greene had a .373 wOBA against righties and a .358 wOBA on the road. On the road against righties like Castillo, he posted a .407 wOBA. Greene is 4-for-8 with a double and a triple in their past meetings.
He has a high ceiling at this salary with the potential to push his team to a 2-0 lead behind Tarik Skubal ($10,500).
Value
Kerry Carpenter, Detroit Tigers at Seattle Mariners, $3,800: Carpenter is a great value at this salary as well. He has hit safely in each of his playoff games, going 5-for-15 with a double, a home run, and four walks. He averaged 11 fantasy points in those games.
Carpenter was heating up at the end of the season, going 14-for-61 (.230) but with a double, a triple, and four homers over his last 20 contests. Carpenter is 1-for-5 with a homer in his career against Castillo.
