Week 5 of the 2025 NFL season continues with a great Monday Night Football matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Travis Etienne Jr. More than 0.5 Rush + Receiving Touchdowns
This is a contract year for Travis Etienne, and he is playing like it so far. Entering the season, it was thought that Etienne would be splitting carries with Tank Bigsby, like he did last season. However, the Jaguars traded Bigsby just before the season started. Etienne is instead splitting touches with rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten. However, due to Tuten’s lack of experience, Etienne is taking a bigger share of the touches than he did last season. He is averaging over 16 carries per game, resulting in 98.5 rushing yards per game. Etienne has scored a touchdown in each of his past three games and will look to make it four in a row against the Chiefs. The Chiefs rank 29th in the NFL in defensive rushing success rate, so the Jaguars should feed Etienne when they get into a goal-to-go situation.
Travis Kelce More Than 42.5 Receiving Yards
It has been a big week in the Kelce/Swift household, and Travis looks to keep the momentum rolling on Monday night. He should be able to get over this receiving number of 42.5 yards against the Jaguars. He has gone over this number in three of four games this season, averaging 45.5 receiving yards per game. The Jaguars have been strong defensively this season but have not had to face a high-level tight end yet this season. They played two struggling offenses, Houston and Carolina, then the Bengals, led by Jake Browning, and the 49ers, without a lot of their weapons, including George Kittle. With good cornerbacks on the outside for Jacksonville, Patrick Mahomes should look to his reliable tight end in this game.
Brian Thomas Jr. Less Than 56.5 Receiving Yards
Brian Thomas Jr. set the league on fire in his rookie season. In a loaded rookie class with the likes of Malik Nabers, Marvin Harrison Jr., Ladd McConkey and Brock Bowers, Thomas led the class in receiving yards. Not only did he lead all rookies, but only Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson had more receiving yards than Thomas last season. However, it has been a slow start to this season for the second-year pro. Thomas is averaging just three catches for 41 yards per game. There are a few factors that could be attributed to that slow start, other than the classic “sophomore slump.” After a brilliant rookie season like he had, defensive coaches will be focusing more of their game plan on how to take away Thomas. He is getting more defensive attention, and with weapons like Travis Hunter, Brenton Strange and Dyami Brown having bright starts, there are more options available for Trevor Lawrence. The Chiefs rank sixth in the NFL in defensive EPA/dropback and should limit Thomas to another quiet game.
