Both Wisconsin and Michigan are fresh off the bye ahead of this week’s matchup, but that’s about all these programs have in common right now. The Badgers were bet out to a double digit favorite two weeks ago hosting Maryland, but got in an early hole and wound up losing by a score of 27-10. Meanwhile, the Wolverines wound up closing the underdog in a road game at Nebraska, but earned a tough three-point victory.
It’s a bit of a lookahead spot for Michigan, who will make the trip to USC next weekend in a spot I’ll look to fade the Wolverines on the road. While fading Michigan on the road will be a theme for me this season, I can’t go against the Wolverines when they are the much better team at home. Wisco is severely outmatched in this one, much like its trip to Tuscaloosa a few weeks ago. While I do give Alabama the edge over Michigan, the Badgers fell to ‘Bama by a final score of 38-14, and I see a pretty similar outcome in this one.
Playing as a sizable home favorite is a pretty good pressure-free spot for Bryce Underwood to develop against Big Ten competition, and he should be able to have his way with Wisconsin’s defense. Michigan should simply dominate the trenches in this game, and the defense has a chance to hold the Badgers to a single score before we get to garbage time in this one.
This would be Wolverines or pass for me at anything laying 17 or better.
