The Buffaloes are feeling the effects of losing an NFL quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, and a Heisman-winning generational talent, Travis Hunter. In addition to their two superstars, they also lost several other key players to the NFL after last season. Colorado was unable to replace that talent with anywhere near the same level of players. The Buffaloes are 2-3 on the season, with both wins coming in non-conference play. They are 0-2 in conference play and lost an out-of-conference game against Georgia Tech. Colorado has used multiple quarterbacks, as Kaidon Salter, Julian Lewis and Ryan Staub have all had their respective struggles either on or off the field. The Buffaloes haven’t found any rhythm on offense, but things have been even worse on the defensive side of the ball.
TCU Preview
This TCU team is close to competing for a Big 12 title if it can shore up a couple of issues. Josh Hoover is one of the best quarterbacks in all of college football. He ranked seventh in the nation in passing yards last season and second among returning quarterbacks this season. He has found individual success the last couple of seasons, but has not taken TCU to the next level. In a wide-open Big 12, TCU has the roster to compete for a conference title. However, they fell at the first hurdle by losing to Arizona State last week. The good news is that it could arguably be their toughest conference game. They just need to handle business moving forward, and they could get a shot at redemption against the Sun Devils. That starts by registering their first conference win in this game against Colorado.

My best bet for this game is for TCU to cover the 13.5-point spread at home. There is one massive advantage in this game, and that is TCU’s passing attack against the Colorado secondary. TCU is a top-25 passing attack in the country by success rate. They also have an elite quarterback, with an elite wide receiver to throw to in Eric McAlister. The Horned Frogs should be able to push the ball down the field with ease and hang a big number against Colorado. Meanwhile, Colorado’s poor passing attack is not capable of exploiting TCU’s only real weakness, its secondary. The Horned Frogs need to get rolling in Big 12 play, and this could be the perfect opportunity for them to get a comfortable win and get some momentum back on their side.
