Week 6 of the college football season has a great slate of Saturday games.

Germie Bernard has been a sensation for Alabama so far this season. Bernard was a part of Kalen DeBoer’s 2023 Washington team, which made it to the national title game. He followed DeBoer to Alabama and had a great 2024 season. Freshman sensation Ryan Williams stole all of the headlines in Tuscaloosa last season, but Bernard actually led the team in receptions in 2024. This season, Bernard was reunited with his former Washington offensive coordinator, Ryan Grubb. DeBoer and Grubb trust Bernard implicitly and know how to best utilize him in every situation. Ryan Williams is the go-to deep-play threat, but Bernard has been Alabama’s most dangerous weapon.
So far in 2025, Bernard leads Alabama in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. He has five total touchdowns over his past four games, including one on the ground. He should keep that touchdown run going in this game against Vanderbilt. This is a massive revenge game for Alabama after getting upset by Vanderbilt last season. Kalen DeBoer should reach deep into his bag to come up with unique ways to score against the Commodores. The main beneficiary of that should be Bernard. Vanderbilt ranks 88th in the nation in defensive EPA/pass. Ty Simpson should be able to rip apart the Commodores’ secondary, moving the ball with ease. Whether it comes on a trick play or a conventional pass, Germie Bernard should find the end zone.
Diego Pavia 210+ Passing Yards (-102)
There is arguably no player in college football more electric than Diego Pavia. He transferred to Vanderbilt last season and had some magical moments with his new team. None more special than Vanderbilt’s historic upset win over Alabama. That win put Pavia’s name on the national stage, and he has taken his game to another level this season. Vanderbilt is 5-0 and is looking to prove that last year’s win over Alabama was not a fluke. Pavia had 252 passing yards in last season’s victory. He will need a similar effort to get another win against the Crimson Tide this Saturday.
Alabama has incredible athletes all over the field, and it will be hard for Vanderbilt to just line up and run conventional plays to methodically move down the field. Vanderbilt needs to hit explosive plays in this game to have a chance. The threat of Pavia’s legs will force Alabama’s defense to keep defenders in the box, which should give Pavia some chances to hit deep shots down the field. Pavia is averaging over 240 passing yards per game, and should clear this number in this huge spot against Alabama.
