However, he is +425 to score a touchdown in this game because of all of the uncertainty around the West Virginia quarterback situation. There is a lot of value in this bet if the Mountaineers can get any type of competent QB play. Vaughn is the team’s best playmaker in the passing game, and they are likely going to have to throw a lot in this game to keep up with BYU. With so much uncertainty around the health of West Virginia’s offense, it’s worth a bet on Vaughn to score, who has been almost the lone constant through the first five games of the season.
Bear Bachmeier 210+ Passing Yards (-109)
Bear Bachmeier has been great for BYU this season. Bachmeier is a true freshman who was expected to be the backup this season. However, expected starting quarterback, Jake Retzlaff, transferred late into the cycle. It was too late for BYU to find a replacement, so they opted to roll with the true freshman. Bachmeier has risen to the occasion, leading BYU to a 4-0 start.
Bachmeier should have a good game against the Mountaineers. West Virginia’s defense has struggled against the pass, ranking 62nd in defensive EPA/pass. Three of the four FBS quarterbacks they have faced this season have thrown for at least 237 yards. Bachmeier should have a good performance at home and throw for at least 210 yards against a struggling Mountaineers team.
