The first game of Week 5 will take place in Los Angeles on Thursday night as the 49ers face the Rams.
Puka Nacua and Matthew Stafford will get all the headlines for the Rams, and rightly so, but Davante Adams has had a stellar start to the 2025 season in his new role as the WR2 in this offense. Through four games, the former Packer has 17 receptions, 269 yards and three touchdowns.

Adams has been as steady as it gets this season, recording 50+ receiving yards in each of his four games while going over this total three times. Adams and Stafford haven’t even been on the same page through their first four games together, only connecting on 17 of 35 targets. I only expect their connection to improve as they continue to get familiar with one another.
Puka Nacua looks like arguably the best wideout in football right now, and he should command a ton of attention from Robert Saleh’s defense on Thursday. Adams should have plenty of one-on-one opportunities, and I would be surprised if he didn’t clear this total. Adams has received at least six targets in all four games and I expect a similar outcome on Thursday.
The Stafford, Nacua, and Adams trio has looked elite so far this year, and I don’t see any signs of them slowing down. The Rams’ top two wideouts have combined for 85 of the 133 targets thrown by Stafford this year. After Adams (35), the next highest targeted Rams are Kyren Williams and Tyler Higbee with 11 each.
The 49ers’ offense is ravaged by injuries right now, which should only increase the amount of time the Rams’ offense is on the field. Both of these teams have top 10 passing defenses right now, but only one of them is facing a potent offense with its star players healthy. The Rams should dominate this one, and I expect Adams to soar past 56 receiving yards.
