Scoring against Arsenal has not been easy so far this season, and I’m backing the Gunners to hold Olympiacos scoreless on Wednesday.
In matchweek 1 of the Champions League, Arsenal won 2-0 away against Athletic Club, while the Greek side drew 0-0 against Pafos. It was a really disappointing performance from Olympiacos, especially when you consider their opponent went down to 10 men after a red card in the 25th minute. When you factor in that Pafos lost 5-1 to Bayern Munich in matchweek 2, the result looks even worse. If you can’t score against 10-man Pafos at home, how are you going to score against Arsenal at the Emirates?
The Gunners never looked like conceding in their first UCL game against Athletic, and have kept clean sheets in three of their six Premier League games. The North London side have conceded three goals in eight games in all competitions this season, and those three have come against top sides in Liverpool, Man City and Newcastle.
It’s not easy to score against the Gunners, and the Greek side should find that out on Wednesday. Olympiacos have scored in all five of their domestic league games this season, but those matches are against far inferior competition.
David Raya, Gabriel, William Saliba, Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori present arguably the best goalkeeper and back four pairing on the planet right now. Arsenal should win this one comfortably, and they will likely do so while keeping their second consecutive clean sheet in the Champions League.
