The 2025 MLB Postseason began in a way only an AL Central clash could provide. On Tuesday afternoon, the Detroit Tigers downed the Cleveland Guardians 2-1 to take the first game of their AL Wild Card series. With that outing now in the books, we look ahead to the opening odds for Wednesday’s Game 2.
DraftKings Sportsbook lists the Guardians as -126 home favorites on the Moneyline as Tanner Bibee takes the mound. The Tigers are a +103 underdog to win outright with Casey Mize drawing the start. The run total sits at 6.5.
Detroit entered the series with a significant advantage in the opening matchup as Tarik Skubal threw an absolute gem with 13 strikeouts. However, this pitching matchup looks much more even Bibee (4.24 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 162 SO) takes on Mize (3.87 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 139 SO). Cleveland’s starter limits opponent exit velocity and hard hits quite well, but Mize generates lots of movement with his pitch repertoire and won’t be easy to hit by any means.
Prior to the series’ start, DraftKings Sportsbook listed both teams with -110 odds to win the series. With the Tigers now up 1-0, they’re favored at -310 odds to advance in the best-of-three format.
The Seattle Mariners await the series winner in the upcoming AL Divisional Series.
