A lot changed in Week 4 for the New York Giants. They got their first win of the season, Jaxson Dart got his first career start, and Malik Nabers’ season ended heartbreakingly. Perhaps the most critical development in fantasy football is the emergence of Cam Skattebo as their true workhorse. His emergence leaves fantasy players with a small window to buy low on him; allow me to explain why.
Analysis
Skattebo’s rise in usage is hard to ignore. In Week 1, the rookie took on four total touches. That increased to 13 in Week 2, followed by 16, and then a whopping 27 in their win over the Chargers. With Tyrone Tracy Jr. out, Skattebo has taken the RB1 job by the horns and isn’t looking back.
But it’s not just winning the top running back job; it’s how the Giants want to operate. New York ran 76 total offensive plays on Sunday, and Skattebo had a touch on 35.5% of those plays. He was the entire focus of the offense.
It’s fair to be worried about the upside of this Giants offense. Dart couldn’t move the ball through the air on Sunday, and their biggest playmaker is down for the year after the MetLife Stadium turf snatched Malik Nabers’ ACL. But it’s clear that the offense will be run-centric with Skattebo at the head of the charge. He’s the goal-line back, the main passing down back, and the guy between the 20-yard lines.
