NXT and TNA will go head-to-head at Invasion: How does this impact pro wrestling?

NXT Invasion is coming soon, as two promotions are set to clash. Throughout 2025, WWE and TNA have maintained an ongoing partnership, exchanging talent between the two brands. Things took a turn when Jacy Jayne won the TNA Knockouts World Championship and Trick Williams won the TNA World Championship.

But on Tuesday night at NXT, the TNA roster invaded NXT during the Championship match between Oba Femi and Trick Williams, causing the match to end early. NXT’s General Manager, Ava, announced at NXT No Mercy that the two companies will put on a new event, Invasion, on October 7. This event will feature two Survivor Series matches between NXT and TNA.

Another exciting contest that was announced is a winner-take-all match between The Hardys, the TNA World Tag Team Champions, vs. DarkState, the NXT Tag Team Champions. This will be the second Invasion event WWE has hosted, following its inaugural event in 2001, which featured talent from WCW and ECW.

Is this partnership mutually beneficial for NXT and TNA?

This relationship between WWE and TNA, and more specifically NXT, has helped elevate both brands throughout the year. By having NXT and TNA wrestlers appear on both shows, it makes the audience intrigued and wanting to tune in to each program. There have been invasion storylines in professional wrestling in the past, and it makes for excellent television, as is true for the current one between TNA and NXT.

WWE and AEW counter-programming continues

In 2025, WWE hosted multiple events on the same day as AEW. On October 7, this continues as the Invasion event goes head-to-head with AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday. The last time both companies hosted events on the same day was on September 20, when AEW had All Out at 3:00 p.m. ET and WWE aired Wrestlepalooza at 7:00 p.m. ET.
