The Yellow Jackets have had an incredible start to their season. They have a veteran squad, led by quarterback Haynes King and running back Jamal Haynes. They are off to a 4-0 start, including a massive upset win over Clemson. There are no ranked teams on their schedule until the non-conference season finale against Georgia. Georgia Tech has a great chance to make the ACC Championship Game if it can keep the core of its team healthy. These are the types of games where Georgia Tech needs to keep its focus. There are some sub-par teams in the ACC, like Wake Forest, with good coaches, like Jake Dickert, that could pull off the upset if the Yellow Jackets don’t bring their best stuff. The Yellow Jackets should try to keep it on the ground in this game and control the clock.
Wake Forest Preview
It has been a real struggle for Wake Forest to start the 2025 season. They squeaked out a 10-9 win against Kennesaw State in the season opener, won a cupcake game against Western Carolina and lost to NC State. They had a bye week before this conference matchup, and this is their last chance to get something going this season. South Carolina and Auburn transfer Robby Ashford is quarterbacking the Demon Deacons this season. He is a great athlete and an agile runner but struggles to throw the football. That puts a real limit on what Wake Forest can do offensively. Wake Forest is at its best running the read option with Ashford and running back Demond Claiborne, something they will try to utilize in this game.

My best bet for this game is the under 52.5 points. Both of these teams want to run the football. Between Robby Ashford and Haynes King, these are two great running quarterbacks, with two great running backs to hand the ball off to. Haynes King is also a great passer, but in a conference road game, Georgia Tech will want to lean on its running game. Whoever can dominate the line of scrimmage and keep the chains moving will control this game. Georgia Tech ranks 103rd in the nation in defensive EPA/rush, so Wake Forest should try to grind it on the ground and keep the ball away from Haynes King. On the other side, Wake Forest is top-45 in the country in defensive EPA/pass and defensive EPA/rush. They should be able to contain Georgia Tech’s offense to keep this game lower scoring.
