Browns vs. Lions prediction, preview
The Lions lost 27-13 to the Packers in Week 1, but since then, Detroit’s dominant offense has returned. Detroit has scored 90 combined points in the previous two weeks. Jared Goff is off to a tremendous start to the season, throwing for 761 yards, seven touchdowns, and one interception. He is second in passing touchdowns, second in QBR (79.4), and third in RTG (120.2).
The Lions’ backfield remains one of the best in the NFL with Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. They have combined for six touchdowns in the last two weeks. Gibbs and Montgomery have also combined for 413 rushing yards this season. Cleveland boasts the best run defense in the NFL, allowing only 57.3 rushing yards per game this year. But someone eventually will find success against the Browns on the ground, and Gibbs and Montgomery have as good a chance as anyone in the league.
The Browns’ defense is their backbone and is among the best in the NFL. But they aren’t perfect, as they allowed 41 points to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2. Cleveland is coming off a phenomenal performance, holding the Packers to only 10 points. Although the Packers’ offense is good, they aren’t as deep and skilled all-around as the Lions. The Lions have it all: an elite QB, two Pro-Bowl RBs, and one of the best receiving cores in the league. Veteran Joe Flacco has struggled this season, and taking on the Lions in Detroit shouldn’t translate to a ton of success for him.
Browns vs. Lions pick, best bet
The line might seem a little high, especially since the Browns recently beat Green Bay, but that is a testament to how great the Lions are. The Lions beat Baltimore, who are perennial contenders, by eight points on the road. Detroit has two consecutive victories at home in the regular season by 10+ points. Getting the Lions -10 on DraftKings Sportsbook is the play in this game since they have been one of the best teams in the NFL at home over the last few years.
