This Wednesday, AEW celebrates its sixth anniversary of its signature show, Dynamite. AEW Dynamite debuted on October 2, 2019, airing from the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. This week’s sixth anniversary Dynamite is being hosted at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida.
Throughout the six years of AEW Dynamite, there have been 312 episodes of the signature television series. From legendary promos to elite matches and everything in between, memorable moments have been created on AEW Dynamite throughout the previous six years.
Before AEW hosts its anniversary show on Wednesday, here are memorable matches and promos in the show’s history.
“Hangman” Adam Page burns down Swerve Strickland’s house | AEW Dynamite: September 4, 2024
This is one of the most iconic moments in AEW history. “Hangman” Adam Page and Swerve Strickland have had a legendary rivalry and one of the greatest in company history. Before their Lights Out Steel Cage Match at AEW All Out 2024, Page took things to the next level by visiting Strickland’s childhood house and burning it down.
Jack Perry joins the Elite and beats down Tony Khan | AEW Dynamite: April 24, 2024
Throughout the first five years of AEW, Jack Perry was known as “Jungle Boy”, an always-happy babyface. But that changed when he joined the Elite and attacked his boss, Tony Khan. Seeing a heel Jack Perry was something unforeseen in the past and delivered a truly shocking moment for the fans.
Mercedes Mone makes AEW debut | AEW Dynamite: March 13, 2024
From 2012 to 2022, Mercedes Mone competed in WWE under the name Sasha Banks. But after she left WWE, she returned to her hometown of Boston, Massachusetts, after a two-year absence from pro wrestling television in the United States. Adding Mone to an already talented women’s division was a fantastic move by AEW.
MJF Pipebomb Promo | AEW Dynamite: June 2, 2022
Not only was this arguably the greatest promo in AEW history, but one of the best in any professional wrestling company throughout the last decade. At the time, MJF had a real-life ongoing conflict with AEW CEO Tony Khan, and it boiled over on AEW Dynamite. Every time MJF touches the microphone, he creates gold, but this time, it was taken to the next level.
Blood & Guts | The Jericho Appreciation Society vs. The Blackpool Combat Club | June 29, 2022
The Jericho Appreciation Society and The Blackpool Combat Club went to war inside a Blood & Guts match, and it lived up to the hype. Throughout 2022, the JAS and BCC went head-to-head multiple times, creating one of the most important storylines in AEW.
Bryan Danielson vs. Kenny Omega | September 22, 2021
Although Bryan Danielson and Kenny Omega faced off in PWG in 2009, they were still up-and-coming wrestlers. While Danielson was embarking on a Hall of Fame career in WWE, Omega was doing the same in NJPW and companies around the world. The two were viewed for many years as two of the best in-ring competitors in the sport, but another one-on-one match seemed impossible. But this matchup became a reality after Danielson joined AEW in 2021.
Gallows and Anderson join the Elite | January 6, 2021
At the end of New Year’s Smash Night 1 in 2021, Jon Moxley came out to beat down the AEW Champion, Kenny Omega, but that didn’t last long. That is because Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, the current Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions at the time, came out to help Omega. Finally, the Young Bucks appeared, initiating a Bullet Club reunion to close the show.
Brodie Lee vs. Cody | Dog Collar TNT Championship Match | July 10, 2020
Although Brodie Lee lost his TNT Championship to Cody, this was one of the best matches in Dynamite history. During Lee’s short time in AEW, he created an incredible rivalry with Cody. Their final showdown was a Dog Collar Match, and it was a brutal contest for Lee and Cody.
Brodie Lee Tribute | December 30, 2020
Brodie Lee spent the majority of his professional wrestling career in the WWE from 2012 to 2019. But in March 2020, he made the move to AEW and quickly became an integral part of the company. Lee beat Cody for the TNT Championship and successfully defended it twice before losing it. After Lee passed away in December 2020, AEW hosted an amazing tribute show in his honor, and Khan gifted his son the TNT Championship at the end of the show.
Sting makes his AEW debut | December 2, 2020
After competing in four matches in WWE in 2015, it seemed like Sting’s legendary career was over. But that changed when he made a shocking debut on AEW Dynamite Winter is Coming in 2020. Even though he is in his 60s, Sting went on to have a good four-year run in AEW, culminating in an excellent retirement match against The Young Bucks at AEW Revolution 2024.
The Inner Circle begins | October 10, 2019
Currently, there are numerous factions in AEW, but one of the original ones is The Inner Circle. They debuted on the first episode of AEW Dynamite, but Chris Jericho introduced them on the second episode of the show.
