The third foursome match of Friday morning will feature Team USA’s Collin Morikawa and Harris English facing off against Team Europe’s Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood. This is arguably the best team that Europe can offer, and the duo of McIlroy and Fleetwood were 2-0 in this format at Marco Simone.

From the USA standpoint, this is an unknown duo of Morikawa and English. The former played with Rickie Fowler in 2023 and went 0-1 in foursomes, while the latter wasn’t on the team two years ago.

Below, I break down this foursome match between Morikawa/English vs. McIlroy/Fleetwood and give a pick for the match.

Morikawa/English vs. McIlroy/Fleetwood Prediction, Pick

I can only see this one going one way, with McIlroy and Fleetwood coming out on top in a comfortable victory. This is arguably Team USA’s worst foursome pairing on Friday morning, while the opposite can be said about Team Europe. I think the Americans have a better chance in all three of the other matches, and picking up a win in this one certainly isn’t going to be easy.

Rory McIlroy is arguably the best player in Europe, a grand slam winner and the #2 ranked player in the world. The Northern Irishman has three top-five finishes in his last five starts. He’s paired up with the #7 golfer on the planet, and a man who will be filled with confidence after his first PGA TOUR win at the TOUR Championship and top-five finishes in his two starts before that. McIlroy and Fleetwood make for a formidable duo.

On the other side, Collin Morikawa comes into this in awful form. He has failed to record a top-10 finish in each of his last six PGA TOUR starts, and that includes two missed cuts. Things have been trending better for his playing partner, as Harris English finished in second place at the Open Championship. He has followed that up with T48, T12, T13 and T43 finishes in the weeks since. Neither American comes into this in scorching form, but Morikawa certainly has the bigger red flags in this partnership.

McIlroy and Fleetwood know how important it is for Team Europe that they win this matchup, and I think they will do just that.
