MLB Thursday betting preview: Guardians look to sweep Tigers in pivotal AL Central series

We’ve got another busy day on the diamond, with seven games to be played on the night slate. There continues to be a chance of showers in some spots, but nothing that will likely cause a full PPD. Here’s some MLB picks and props to consider for September 25 and make sure to check out the DraftKings Network Betting Splits page to see how the public is betting the action.

MLB Odds & Storylines

The Red Sox can clinch a postseason berth with either a win in their series finale vs. Toronto or with a loss by the Astros, Pete Crow-Armstrong and Francisco Lindor are each one home run away from a 30/30 season and the Dodgers can clinch the NL West crown with a win in their 3:40 p.m. ET matchup against the Diamondbacks.

However, I am going to focus arguably the most impactful game on the slate, the series finale of Tigers-Guardians. Detroit has lost eight straight and finds itself one game back in an AL Central race that it looked to have locked up. Things can go from bad to worse tonight, as the Guardians have the chance to close out a series sweep when Parker Messick (3-0; 2.08 ERA; 1.30 WHIP) takes on a Tigers starter yet to be named.

DraftKings Sportsbook is offering a 25% profit boost (more on that below) to use on a 3+ leg SGP bet for tonight’s Tigers-Guardians game, so here’s a few fun facts to consider:

  • The Guardians have won each of their last nine night games against AL Central opponents.
  • Each of the Guardians’ last seven home games after playing the previous day have gone UNDER the total runs line.
  • The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the last seven games between the Tigers and Guardians.
  • The Tigers have trailed after 3 innings in four of their last five games.
  • Riley Greene has scored a run in six of the Tigers’ last nine road games.
  • Gleyber Torres has recorded at least one RBI in six of the Tigers’ last 10 road games.

Parlay + 25% Profit Boost
