What happened to Ramon Laureano? Injury update for Padres OF 9/24/25

The San Diego Padres clinched an MLB Postseason berth last night, but the lineup will take a hit heading into the first round. Outfielder Ramon Laureano left Wednesday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers with a fractured finger which will sideline him for the NL Wild Card round.

The 31-year-old came to the Padres via trade just before the July 31 deadline and has made quite the impact since. Laureano slashes .269/.323/.489 with San Diego, accumulating 49 hits, 27 runs, 30 RBI and nine home runs in 50 games. He’s largely a split-neutral hitter as well, logging an .867 OPS against left-handers and an .848 mark against righties.

As such, the loss is a large one for the Padres since Laureano is a mainstay as a starter in the outfield, typically out in left.

Following Wednesday’s 3-1 loss to the Brewers, the Padres sit 87-72 with control of the second NL Wild Card berth. They remain just two games back of the Los Angeles Dodgers for the NL West lead.
