Marvin Harrison Jr. was one of the most hyped wide receiver prospects in recent memory. The fourth overall pick in 2024 by the Cardinals immediately slotted in as the top WR on Arizona’s depth chart. Though he didn’t live up to his massive expectations, many expected the jump this year. That hasn’t materialized yet. Now, priced at $11,700 in the NFL Showdown $1.5M Thursday Night Showdown [$500K to 1st] (SEA @ ARI) we have to consider whether or not Harrison is worth starting or sitting.
Through three games, Harrison has reeled in 10 catches for 142 yards and a touchdown. Relative to his expectations, it’s a huge disappointment. He’s already dropped two of his 17 targets, including two back-breaking misses against the 49ers last week.
We’re at the point where we have to consider if Maserati Marv is more like Mazda Marv. Facing a stiff test against the Seahawks defense and top Seattle corner Tariq Woolen, it’s fair to wonder if Harrison is worth the price of admission for this Showdown DFS contest.
At $11,700, Harrison Jr. is the second most expensive receiver on the board behind his former Ohio State teammate, Jaxon Smith-Njigba. He’s the seventh most costly player on the board overall, and fifth amongst skill position players. Harrison is close to the dropoff before we get to WR3 types and backup running backs. It leaves us in an interesting predicament in a shallow Showdown pool.
Ultimately, Harrison is too much of a risk to trust. Another bad game could completely tank your lineup. I’d invest the money elsewhere while spending the extra coin on Tory Horton ($8,700), a serious touchdown threat, or Zach Charbonnet ($8,100), assuming that he plays. The risk is not worth the reward for Harrison.
