In a week filled with must-watch MLB action, not all games are created equal. Twins-Rangers pits two teams that will not be taking part in the 2025 postseason. Still, there’s plenty of intrigue in this matchup for bettors. Texas ace Jacob deGrom will take the mound for the final time this year. For the other side, Minnesota will hope to earn an impressive upset on the road. Which of these American League foes will secure a win tonight? Below, I’ve laid out my preview, prediction, and best bet for Wednesday’s meeting between the Minnesota Twins and the Texas Rangers.

Twins vs. Rangers prediction, preview
Obviously, all eyes will be on deGrom. Following an injury-plagued first few years in Texas, the righty was terrific in 2025. Through 167.2 innings of work, the All-Star notched a 3.01 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 177 strikeouts. While those numbers don’t come as a surprise, it was refreshing to see one of the best arms of his generation dominate. The two-time Cy Young winner allowed more than three runs only four times in 29 starts.
Taking down one of the best pitchers of the past decade is difficult for any offense. That’s especially true for a Minnesota club that sold off most of its best hitters during July’s trade deadline. Since August 1st, the Twins have produced the sixth-worst batting average in baseball (.234). Other than standout centerfielder Byron Buxton (133 wRC+), none of these names should cause concern for deGrom.
Any hopes of a victory for the visitors will likely come down to Taj Bradley. The former Rays hurler has undeniable talent. However, putting it all together on the mound has been an issue. Over 136.2 innings in the majors this season, the right-hander has posted a 5.20 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 118 strikeouts. In five starts with the Twins, the 24-year-old has surrendered 22 earned runs (7.82 ERA).
When Bradley last faced Texas on April 5th, he tossed five innings of four-run ball. Granted, it’s not as if this is the most intimidating lineup in the league. Texas has scored 67 runs since September 1st, tied for the second-lowest mark in baseball during that time.
Twins vs. Rangers pick, best bet
Best Bet: Rangers -1.5 (+113)
There is some risk in backing the Rangers due to their mediocre offense. Regardless, deGrom is simply too good to ignore against a light-hitting Twins lineup. Expect a dominant win for Texas tonight.
