What happened to Cade Horton? Live Injury updates for Mets vs. Cubs 9/23/25

UPDATE: Horton exited early due to his back tightening up.

After only pitching three innings in Tuesday’s matchup vs. the Mets, Chicago Cubs starter Cade Horton exited the game. As of now, there has been no mention as to why he left early. As soon as we get that information, we will update this article.

Tuesday’s performance was short, but effective as he struck out two and allowed one run in 29 pitches. It’s been an elite rookie season for Horton, posting a 2.66 ERA in what was his 22nd start of the year. There are only five more games left on Chicago’s regular season schedule after tonight, so the next time we see Horton will likely be in October for the Cubs’ postseason run.
