The opening bout of Season 9, Week 7 of Dana White’s Contender Series is a Light Heavyweight fight between Rafael Tobias vs. Jair de Oliveira. This is Oliveira’s first fight in 16 months (May 2024), while Tobias is coming off a second-round knockout victory in April.

Here is my best bet for Rafael Tobias vs. Jair de Oliveira on tonight’s episode of DWCS.

Rafael Tobias Round 1 (-175)

Since Tobias is a big -470 favorite in this matchup on DraftKings Sportsbook, let’s find a better way to back him. With 10 of his 13 wins coming by KO/TKO or submission, he is still -400 to win by finish. That makes Tobias in Round 1 at -175 the best bet in this fight. That is because seven of his previous 10 victories have come in the first round, with three of his last five.

Tobias has more experience, with a five-inch reach advantage (74″ vs. 69″) and is four inches taller (6’1″ vs. 5’9″). This is a mismatch on paper, and even though Tobias is seven years younger, he makes up for it with his 14 career fights in the first three and a half years in MMA. In that same time span, De Oliveira has fought five times. De Oliveira is talented but lacks the necessary experience to combat Tobias.
