We’re in the final stretch of the regular season and all 30 teams are in action today, with serious playoff implications at stake. There is a chance of showers in some spots on Tuesday’s slate, but nothing too concerning in the forecast. Fans will have the opportunity to catch a game with one playoff hopeful in action, as TBS will be on the call for Mets-Cubs at 7:40 p.m. ET. Here’s some MLB picks and props to consider for September 23.
MLB Odds & Storylines
Let’s start with those Mets. After boasting the best record in the big leagues at 45-24 on June 12, the Mets have collapsed and now find themselves fighting for their playoff lives. They currently are tied with the Reds for the final Wild Card spot after going 4-6 in their last 10 games and will send David Peterson (9-6; 3.98 ERA; 1.34 WHIP) to the mound at Wrigley Field. Peterson has seen his ERA balloon to 5.71 in the second half, with his 7.63 mark in three starts this month particularly troubling. Finally, the Yankees can punch their ticket to the postseason with victory tonight over the White Sox. Judge has one hit in three at-bats against tonight’s White Sox starter Shane Smith, but that one hit was a home run. Judge has gotten hot in September, slashing .344/.506/.656 with six home runs in 19 games. He is +219 to hit 1+ home run tonight.
