The third round of the Carabao Cup continues on Tuesday as Liverpool host Southampton.

This bet can be found under the “Match Props” tab. I am backing Liverpool to win this one comfortably, and I think they will be able to keep a clean sheet in the process. Yes, there will likely be massive rotation from Saturday’s Premier League game, but the Reds have one of the best squads in Europe. Even if they play every single backup, I still think they would dominate this one.
It’s been a rough last 12 months for Southampton. They finished bottom of the Premier League table last season, resulting in relegation to the Championship. Things are even worse this season, as now they are even struggling in the second division of English football. They have won just one of their opening six league games, which puts them in 19th place in the Championship.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are the reigning champions of England and have won all five of their Premier League games this season. I would be shocked if this one was close, and it’s hard to see past a Liverpool win. The question is, can they keep a clean sheet?
The Reds have only managed to keep two clean sheets in their first five games, but that’s also against Premier League opposition. Southampton used to be of that quality, but sadly not anymore. Liverpool have won each of the last four meetings between these two sides, but have only kept a clean sheet in one of those. Those games were against a Saints side that were in a much better place than they are right now, so I expect another Liverpool win, but this time with zero goals conceded.
