The third round of the Carabao Cup continues on Wednesday as Huddersfield host Man City.

This bet can be found under the “Match Props” tab. All four games on Wednesday’s Carabao Cup slate feature a Premier League side facing off against a team from League One. I would be shocked if any of the third division sides get a result, and Huddersfield are no exception. It’s been a decent start to their league campaign, winning five of their nine matches and sitting in fifth place.
For Man City, it’s been a slow start to the season for their standards, winning only two of five Premier League games, which puts them in 9th place. They did get their Champions League campaign underway in positive fashion, beating the Italian champions Napoli 2-0. Now, their Carabao Cup journey begins on Wednesday. Like many of the top Premier League sides this week, expect massive changes in the starting lineup for City. They played in the Champions League last Thursday and had a quick turnaround to Sunday’s draw against Arsenal.
City may not have as much squad depth as the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool these days, but they certainly have enough for games like this. The Citizens have kept a clean sheet in three of their six games in all competitions this season, and I expect them to make it four out of seven come the end of this one.
Despite a down season for them in 2024/25, they still had a top-five defense in the Premier League in terms of goals conceded.
Last season, they faced off against League Two opposition Salford City in the third round of the FA Cup, coming out 8-0 victors. In the fourth round of the same competition, they faced League One’s Leyton Orient, getting a 2-1 win. I would imagine this game will be somewhere in between those two extremes. A one-goal win would be enough, but it wouldn’t be impressive. An eight-goal win achieves the same result, but would show the world that City are still one of the best on their day. I think in the end, this will be closer to a one goal win, but I will predict City to win this one 2-0.
