Lamb sprained his ankle early in the Cowboys’ Week 3 loss to the Bears and after attempting to return, the receiver quickly exited the game for good in the first half. Now, a day later on Monday, ESPN’s Todd Archer is reporting Lamb suffered a left high ankle sprain and he could miss 3-4 weeks.
With the star wideout likely out for this Sunday night’s matchup with the Packers, Ferguson is one of the best tight end options for fantasy football this week, despite the tough matchup. Green Bay is giving up the fewest yards per pass in the NFL (4.5), but Ferguson’s role is likely to be so strong with Lamb sidelined that Ferguson will be a matchup proof player until Lamb returns.
With Lamb only available for seven snaps in Week 3, Ferguson hauled in 13 of his 14 targets – both of which are career highs – for 82 yards (21.2 FPTS). Ferguson was targeted on an absurd 48% of his routes, including two redzone targets. This excellent performance comes after Ferguson caught nine of his 12 targets for 78 yards in Week 2 (16.8 FPTS) and overall, the 26-year-old is the No.1 scoring tight end in fantasy football this season (45.3 FPTS).
Yes, we are only three games into the season, but Ferguson is a threat to see double-digit targets weekly with Lamb on the shelf and if the receiver misses an extended period of time as expected, Ferguson will have a great chance to finish the season as a top-five tight end for fantasy football.
With Lamb likely sidelined this Sunday, the Cowboys are a 6.5-point underdog vs. the Packers on DraftKings Sportsbook.
