The Mandalorian & Grogu Trailer Drops: First Look at Star Wars’ 2026 Return to Theaters

The Mandalorian and Grogu are officially headed to theaters in 2026 — and fans just got their first look at the duo’s big screen adventure. Lucasfilm dropped the trailer on Monday, marking the first Star Wars theatrical release since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.

The trailer gives us our first extended look as the Clan of Two jumps from Disney+ to the big screen. When we last saw Mando and Grogu at the end of the third season of The Mandalorian, they had appeared to have settled on a plot of land gifted to them by their friend Greef Karga (RIP, Carl Weathers) on Nevarro after helping Bo-Katan Kryze reclaim Mandalore, restart the Great Forge and defeat Moff Gideon. Mando appears set to begin taking on work from New Republic pilot Carson Teva, likely giving us our entry into the story in The Mandalorian and Grogu.

In the trailer we see Grogu continuing to develop his Force powers, but also to embrace skills he’s learning from his surrogate father Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal). We also get to see the duo interact with Sigourney Weaver, even if she dares to deny Grogu a snack. We also get shots of Rebels‘ Zeb Orrelios, Jeremy Allen White’s Rotta the Hutt, the return of the Razor Crest (!) and plenty of fighting action, including Mando and Grogu appearing to single-handedly taking out an AT-AT. To quote Mando in the trailer, impressive. Impressive, indeed. I had previous ranked The Mandalorian as my second best Star Wars series on Disney+ and this trailer does nothing to dampen my excitement to see Mando and Grogu continue their adventures on the big screen.

We also got our first look at the poster for the new film, and let me just say — this is the way. The post gives an old school, almost Casablanca-esque feel and I for one think it is outstanding.

The Mandalorian and Grogu, directed by Jon Favreau and co-written by Favreau and Dave Filoni, is slated to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.
