It’s a light Monday on the diamond, with the entire American League taking the night off. We will have a three-game slate, all airing on MLB Network, with no weather concerns in the forecast. However, just because there is a light slate doesn’t mean there aren’t storylines to follow.

The San Diego Padres have an opportunity to punch their playoff ticket tonight as they host the Milwaukee Brewers. Nick Pivetta (13 – 5; 2.81 ERA; 0.97 WHIP) takes the ball for San Diego, squaring off with Freddy Peralta (17 – 6; 2.65 ERA; 1.07 WHIP). The Brewers are currently -1.5 favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Meanwhile in Atlanta, Chris Sale ( 5 – 5; 2.35 ERA; 1.07 WHIP) will be on the mound as the Braves will look to continue their eight-game winning streak. Finally, Giants third baseman Matt Chapman is closing in on 1,000 career hits. Chapman enters tonight’s game vs. the Cardinals (Giants – 1.5) needing just three hits to hit the milestone. He’ll face Michael McGreevy (7-3; 4.08 ERA; 1.20 WHIP), who he is 0-3 against with one strikeout. We should also note, that he is hitting .234 this month, with 15 hits on 64 at-bats.
