Tampa Bay Buccaneers star wide receiver Mike Evans has left today’s matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Jets. Evans had tallied four receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown, but he limped to the locker room with what is being reported to be a hamstring injury. Evans showed visible frustration leaving the field, and his status will be up in the air moving forward.
After initially being labeled as questionable, Evans has been ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Hamstring injuries are never a problem you want associated with a quick-twitch athlete like Evans. This is especially concerning for the six-time Pro Bowler, as he missed three games last year with a hamstring issue and also had hamstring problems back in 2021, 2020 and 2019.
When he is on the field, there is no doubt that Evans is one of the best wide receivers in the sport. He is well on his way to a Hall-of-Fame career and looking to extend his 11-season streak with 1,000+ yards receiving. Expect Tampa Bay to be a bit cautious in his future outlook, given the injury track record. The Buccaneers have plenty of talent at the wide receiver position, with rookie Emeka Egbuka set to see his role scaled up and Chris Godwin returning soon.
More updates will be added as they are provided by the team, but Evans landing on the injury report is not at all what the Buccaneers wanted to see at this stage of the season.
