Omar Cooper Jr. has been a revelation for the Indiana Hoosiers’ offense this season. In a team built on transfers, Cooper has emerged as the team’s leading receiver in his third season with the Hoosiers. He is the most explosive player on this roster, with the ability to score on one touch. He saw limited action in the season opener, catching just two passes, but taking one of them for 46 yards. It was another game of limited touches in Week 2, but he took a carry 75 yards for a touchdown. Then, in Week 3 against Indiana State, Cooper had one of the performances of the season in college football. He caught ten balls for 207 yards and four touchdowns against the Sycamores. This Illinois defense will be tougher than any of those teams, but Cooper has proven to his coaching staff that he is the go-to guy if Indiana wants to create an explosive play. They will find unique ways to get him the ball, like they did in Week 2 against Kennesaw State. He has touched the ball 14 times this season and averaged 26.7 yards of offense on those touches, taking five of them for touchdowns. He could be the X-factor in this game to get Indiana an explosive score.
Hank Beatty 60+ Receiving Yards (-103)
Hank Beatty has been the clear standout receiver for the Fighting Illini so far this season. Illinois has an experienced quarterback, Luke Altmyer, who Bret Bielema will trust with the ball in his hands in this game. Indiana will almost certainly get points up on the board, so if Illinois wants to pull off the upset, they need to be aggressive on offense. If that is the case, Hank Beatty will be the go-to guy. Beatty is a fifth-year senior who has spent his entire career at Illinois. He knows this offense inside and out and is finally getting his chance to be a real contributor. Illinois is a top 25 offense in the country when it comes to EPA/pass and passing success rate. Beatty is a huge reason for that, with over 200 receiving yards more than the next best guy on the Illinois roster. He is averaging 96 receiving yards per game and is getting the most targets, as well as the deep shot looks. This formula should lead to Beatty hitting 60 receiving yards against the Hoosiers.
