The Lions and Bears enter Week 2 both seeking their first win of the 2025 season.
Detroit is a 6.5-point favorite and -285 on the moneyline, while Chicago is +230 on DraftKings Sportsbook. The game total is set at 46.5 points.
Here are my three favorite player props for this Week 2 NFL game between the Lions and Bears.
Lions vs. Bears Best Prop Bets
Jahmyr Gibbs over 3.5 receptions (-127)
Jahmyr Gibbs had a busy week with not many stats to show for it. He had nine carries for 19 yards and 10 receptions for 31 yards. He caught all 10 of his targets, which led the team in its Week 1 loss to the Packers.
Although Gibbs and David Montgomery share the backfield, Gibbs is the primary back. He’s also much more impactful in the pass game, making him a versatile threat each week. Ten receptions per week is a bit much to ask, but he’s more than capable of surpassing 3.5.
Gibbs hit the over on this mark in eight of 17 games last season. He did so in one of two games against the Bears, and even accomplished the over in games where he had more than 20 carries.
A concern may be that Montgomery eats into the snap share, but Gibbs is utilized in the pass game far more often. Montgomery isn’t as effective in these schemes, giving Gibbs more plays on the field.
Rome Odunze over 4.5 receptions (+120)
For three quarters, it seemed that Caleb Williams would kick off his second season with a victory. Then the Vikings scored 21 points in the fourth to win 27-24.
Williams was underwhelming, completing just 21-of-35 passes for 210 yards and one touchdown. A bright spot was that he connected with Rome Odunze six times for 37 yards and a touchdown. The two top-10 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft had high expectations entering the NFL, so it’s a good sign to see the two working together in year two.
Odunze caught six of nine targets, which led the Bears in Week 1. The yards weren’t great, but it’s clear that Williams has his eye on Odunze. That’s the most important aspect in this prop bet.
A high volume of targets means more than a large sum of yards for this bet.
Sam LaPorta anytime touchdown (+175)
After a 15-2 2024 campaign, the Lions had a poor Week 1 showing against the Packers. They scored 13 points with one touchdown and two field goals.
That shouldn’t happen again. Detroit is a much better team than it showed in Week 1, so the Bears are likely in store for a difficult matchup.
Jared Goff completed 31 of 39 passes for 225 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the Packers. One standout performer was Sam LaPorta, who caught six of nine targets for 79 yards. Goff has made quite a connection with his tight end over the past two seasons, totaling 17 receiving touchdowns.
Although he didn’t catch one in Week 1, he had the second most targets on the team. LaPorta also has had good success against Chicago, scoring in both games last year.
