I discussed this one heavily on the DKN Daily Bets Podcast on Tuesday prior to lines opening, but Javonte Williams’ rushing prop came out at the price I was hoping for.
The Cowboys surprised me with how heavily they leaned on the run in the season opener in Philly, particularly early in the game. Williams didn’t wind up racking up the yardage given his volume, but the 15-54-2 line was pretty impressive against the defending champs. Week 2 presents a completely different situation, and a far more favorable one for Williams if game script holds up.
Dallas is a home favorite against a Giants defense that gave up 220 rushing yards to Washington in Week 1. Just based on volume, if Williams sees anything close to 15 carries again, he’s in terrific position to crush his prop. Washington was able to get Jacory Croskey-Merritt 82 rushing yards on just 10 carries in this matchup last week in his NFL-debut.
Unless Dallas completely changes the distribution of carries out of the backfield, there’s no reason to believe Williams will see any less work in Week 2. The Cowboys have also had extra rest and prep time for this one following the Thursday night game in Week 1. Miles Sanders got the RB2 work in that game, which was good for only four carries. While he turned it into 53 rushing yards due to one big play, Sanders also had a crucial fumble that arguably cost his team the game. That works favorably towards Williams remaining the feature back in a terrific Week 2 matchup.
NFL Pick: Javonte Williams OVER 533.5 Rushing Yards (-113) 1.5-units
