The Georgia Bulldogs take on the Tennessee Volunteers in one of the biggest games of the college football season so far. Georgia and Tennessee are both 2-0 entering this game, with College Football Playoff aspirations. Both of these teams made the College Football Playoff last season, with Georgia winning the SEC and Tennessee getting an at-large bid. There were changes for both teams in the offseason, with Georgia quarterback Carson Beck transferring to Miami and Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava transferring to UCLA. Both teams have played a weak schedule so far, so this game should be a good measuring stick for where these programs stand in 2025.
Nate Frazier Anytime TD Scorer (-110)
Nate Frazier is the clear RB1 for Georgia this season. Frazier has 25 carries through two games, despite Georgia holding big leads in both of those games and sharing the touches around. For this huge game against Tennessee, Georgia should lean heavily on Frazier to carry the load. This is the first big road start of quarterback Gunner Stockton’s career, and Kirby Smart won’t want to push him to do too much. Georgia should rely on their running game and defense to get this win. Once Frazier became the primary running back for Georgia towards the end of last season, he was a touchdown machine. In Georgia’s final five regular-season games, he had seven rushing touchdowns. He has started this season on the same note, with two touchdowns in two games. Frazier should add another one against the Volunteers on Saturday.
Joey Aguilar 208+ Passing Yards (-114)
Joey Aguilar has had a great start to his Tennessee career. The experienced quarterback was a star at Appalachian State and was looking to move up a level during the offseason. He initially transferred to UCLA to be their starting quarterback next season. However, Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava controversially left the program for UCLA later in the offseason as well. Tennessee was out a quarterback and Aguilar was out a job, so the two decided to fix each other’s problems, with Aguilar transferring to Tennessee. There were concerns that Aguilar wouldn’t be up to the task at a program with CFP aspirations like Tennessee. However, it has been a brilliant start for Aguilar. He has thrown for 535 yards and five touchdowns through two games this season.
Aguilar has performed well against weaker teams, but this Georgia defense will be a different beast. Aguilar has comfortably cleared 208 passing yards in both games so far this season, but this will be a much tougher task. However, due to Aguilar’s experience and this being a home game, Josh Heupel should let his quarterback throw. The Georgia front seven is monstrous, and Tennessee will struggle to run the football. Explosive passes were the way to beat Georgia last season, and it could be the same again this season. Aguilar threw for 214 yards against Clemson last season at Appalachian State, so he does have experience against high-level defenses. While Aguilar could be baited into making a couple of mistakes, he should also connect on some explosive plays to get over this number.
