Week 1 of the NFL is in the books, and we now turn our attention to the second week of action. One of the most intriguing games on Sunday’s slate is an AFC East matchup as the Bills make the trip across New York to MetLife Stadium to play the Jets.
An offseason of trade rumors were silenced in Week 1 as Breece Hall got off to a great start in the 2025 season.

Breece Hall is now in his fourth NFL season and is still on his rookie deal. There were trade rumors surrounding him all summer. The 2025 season is pivotal not only to his personal future, but for the Jets to figure out if he’s the long term solution.
Hall answered the call in Week 1 against Pittsburgh, rushing 19 times for 107 yards while averaging 5.6 yards per carry. Based on his production and volume in Week 1, Hall rushing at least 14 times in this game seems like a given.
When you factor in what the Jets coaching staff has been saying all offseason regarding their desire to run the ball, it feels like an absolute lock.
It’s a completely new coaching staff and philosophy for the Jets this season. In 2024, the team was dead last in rush attempts per game with 21.4. It’s only one game, but after Week 1, New York is second in rushing attempts this season, as they ran it 39 times on Sunday. The only team with more? The Indianapolis Colts with 40.
Throw last year’s stats with Hall and Braelon Allen out the window. This season will be much different, and Week 1 was a great indication of what’s to come. When you combine all of that with the fact that the Bills had the worst rushing defense in the league in Week 1, I feel fairly certain that we are going to get a large dose of the running game on Sunday. The Ravens ran the ball down Buffalo’s throat in Week 1, recording 238 yards as a team on the ground while averaging 8.2 yards per attempt.
The Jets’ game plan for this one is simple and obvious. The question will be, how effective can they be on Sunday?
I’m not sure what the answer to that is, but unless this one gets away from New York early, expect them to try and establish the run early and often with Hall getting the bulk of the work.
