Kansas State vs. Arizona Prop Bets
Kansas State has had a disastrous start to its season. It took a disappointing loss to Iowa State in Ireland to open the season, and things have only gone downhill from there. The Wildcats squeaked out a three-point win over North Dakota the following week, failing to slow down that FCS offense. Then, last week, they lost as massive favorites against Army at home. They couldn’t stop Army’s rushing attack, and their offense couldn’t stop getting in their own way. With a 1-2 record heading into this game, it seems to be a lost season for Kansas State already. It will take a masterful coaching job from Chris Klieman to keep his players motivated for the rest of the season, which could work in Arizona’s favor in this game.
Javin Whatley 50+ Receiving Yards (-110)
Kansas State seems mentally and physically exhausted after the first three weeks of its season. Arizona has just the quarterback who can take advantage of a defense in such a condition. Noah Fifita is in his third season as Arizona’s QB1, and he has put up massive numbers over the past two seasons, helping his old wide receiver, Tetairoa McMillan, become a top-10 NFL draft pick this year. It was against inferior competition, but Fifita showed he can still sling it without McMillan, throwing for 373 yards and five touchdowns against Weber State. There was a major hole to fill when McMillan left, and the frontrunner for Fifita’s new favorite target is Javin Whatley.
Whatley is a senior who transferred in from Chattanooga prior to this season. He has a lot of experience and has produced at a high level at the FCS level for Chattanooga. He has been Arizona’s receptions leader in both of its games so far, totaling 206 receiving yards across its two games. This Kansas State defense seems defeated, and Fifita will want to let it rip against the Wildcats early and often. The biggest share of those targets should go to Whatley, as they have in the first two games, which should get him at least 50 receiving yards.
Noah Fifita 250+ Passing Yards (-119)
Whatley should have a big game, but Fifita should spread the love all over the field to the other Arizona pass-catchers, too. Fifita has thrown for over 5,800 yards over the past two seasons and has already picked up where he left off. North Dakota had over 250 passing yards against Kansas State two weeks ago, and while Army never throws the football, they showed that Kansas State’s defense has no interest in playing physical football this season. Fifita is clicking with his weapons early on in this season, and while Whatley has been the standout, there are deep play threats throughout this receiving corps. Last season, Fifita had 268 passing yards against Kansas State. A repeat performance from Fifita in this game will get him over his passing prop of 250 yards.
