After Kenneth Walker III ($5,600) led the Seahawks’ backfield last season, it was Zach Charbonnet ($5,100) who saw more work in Week 1 vs. the 49ers. Charbonnet rushed 12 times for 47 yards and a touchdown, while handling 54.5% of the running back carries for Seattle — including four redzone rushes — and logging 57.6% of the snaps. Charbonnet didn’t see a target as a receiver, but he did run 11 routes. Overall, he finished with 10.7 FPTS.
Meanwhile, Walker rushed 10 times for 20 yards and he caught all three of his targets for four yards, resulting in 5.4 FPTS. Walker saw 45.5% of the running back carries — including two redzone rushes — while logging 40.4% of the snaps and running nine routes.
Charbonnet was more prevalent in the offense in every aspect aside from the passing game. Walker had more targets, but only by a slim margin. With this in mind, this could be a sign for Charbonnet to see more volume in the future.
Both running backs will be involved in the offense and are worth starting in Week 2, but Charbonnet is the slightly better option at the moment, especially for DFS, as he’s $400 cheaper than Walker.
Seattle is facing the Steelers in Week 2, who allowed the Jets’ backfield to score the fourth-most FPTS for running backs in Week 1, so this is potentially an appealing spot for Charbonnet to have a strong showing.
