The first game of Week 2 will take place in Green Bay on Thursday night as the Commanders face the Packers.
The former third-round pick Tucker Kraft is entering his third NFL season and seems to have solidified his status as the starter at tight end for the Packers. In Week 1, he was targeted four times and hauled in two of those for 16 yards and a touchdown. He caught a 15-yard touchdown pass on the opening drive, but struggled to make an impact for the rest of the game. Let’s see what Kraft and the Packers have in store for us in Week 2.

As mentioned earlier, Kraft wasn’t a huge part of the Packers’ passing attack against Detroit, but he didn’t need to. The Packers established a two-touchdown lead early in Sunday’s game, and didn’t necessarily need to throw the ball around the yard. Jordan Love only attempted 22 passes, completing 16 of them for 188 yards and two scores. Romeo Doubs led the team in receiving, hauling in two of his four targets for 68 yards.
For Packers fans, it was a great evening. For many of us who bet on Green Bay pass catchers, maybe not so much. Thursday provides a fresh start and a new game script. Will we see them throw the ball more, or is another game with 25 team rushing attempts in store?
Despite Kraft going under this total in Week 1, I’m backing him to record 40 or more yards on Thursday. Down the stretch of the 2024 regular season, he went over this total in four of his last six games while averaging over 50 yards per game. His run towards the end of the season propelled him into the clear-cut starter heading into this season, despite Luke Musgrave lurking on the roster.
Despite the touchdown in Week 1, you feel like there’s more meat on the bone with Kraft in this offense. I expect him to see an uptick in targets, catches and yards in Week 2 and to cover this number with ease.
