The final game of Week 1 will take place in Chicago on Monday night as the Vikings face the Bears.
Justin Jefferson will be looking to build on a 2024 season that saw him record 1,533 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. He will have a new quarterback under center this season in J.J. McCarthy, so those two will hope to build a quick connection so Jefferson can pick up where he left off a season ago.

I don’t love the idea of fading one of the best wideouts in the league, but here we are. In my opinion, this is the best bet for Jefferson on Monday.
He failed to go over this total in either game against Chicago last season. In fact, he finished with season lows in targets, receptions and receiving yards when the Vikings played in Soldier Field last season. His two catches for 27 yards was by far his worst performance of the season. While I don’t expect him to be that quiet on Monday night, I do think this total is a stretch. In his last five games, including the Wild Card loss to the Rams, Jefferson has gone under this total on three occasions.
Another big question mark is the quarterback play from J.J. McCarthy. It could be really good, it could be really bad. It’s hard to tell because we haven’t seen him yet. Generally speaking, NFL quarterbacks making their first start struggle. I expect a shaky start from the young McCarthy.
Not having Jordan Addison in the lineup is another issue to deal with, as his presence would ease some of the coverage away from Justin while also giving McCarthy more options in the passing game. T.J. Hockenson and Jalen Nailor will need to step up and provide another outlet other than JJ.
Jefferson is clearly elite, but 81 yards or more might be a bridge too far with a new quarterback in this situation.
