Week 1’s Sunday slate is here with a handful of terrific matchups in both the early and late afternoon windows. One of the 1 p.m. ET games to watch is the Giants vs. Commanders.
This NFC East rivalry features some star talent in Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers. Additionally, there are some key rookies to watch, including Abdul Carter on New York.
Washington is a six-point favorite and -278 on the moneyline, while New York is +225 on DraftKings Sportsbook. The game total is set at 45.5 points.
Here are my three favorite player props for this Week 1 NFL game between the Giants and Commanders.
Giants vs. Commanders Best Prop Bets
Malik Nabers over 6.5 receptions (+100)
Nabers impressed as a rookie despite a rocky quarterback situation in New York. Daniel Jones, Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito each got starts last year, but it didn’t matter as Nabers was still one of the best wide receivers in the league.
He finished with 1,204 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 109 receptions. That number should only go up in 2025 as Russell Wilson takes over under center. Wilson isn’t the same quarterback he once was, but it’s hard to downgrade from the team’s 2024 quarterback trio.
Wilson will likely pepper Nabers with targets all game, making it quite easy for him to surpass the over 6.5 receptions mark. He cleared this number in nine of the 15 games he played last season.
The Commanders are a difficult test, but Nabers should show up in Week 1, giving the Giants fans some life in what could be another losing season.
Jayden Daniels anytime touchdown (+165)
Like many of the best quarterbacks in today’s NFL, Daniels did much more than just throw the ball last season. He was a successful runner, tallying 891 yards and six touchdowns in his rookie season.
Defenses need to contain him in order to limit the damage he does on the ground. It’s easier said than done, however. Teams can’t overcommit to his run, or his passing attack will dominate and vice versa.
Daniels will make some moves on the ground during Sunday’s matchup with the Giants. It’s an important part of his game, so expect to see some quality carries. Whether it’s a scramble or a designed run, Daniels will find his way into the end zone at least once on Sunday.
The anytime touchdown bet is set at +165. It technically covers receiving touchdowns as well, but it’s very unlikely for a quarterback to make a touchdown reception. But who knows? Maybe the Commanders have a trick play up their sleeve.
More than likely, it’ll be a rushing touchdown for Daniels.
Terry McLaurin under 56.5 receiving yards (-111)
Terry McLaurin made a lot of noise in the offseason thanks to a contract dispute. He requested a trade from the organization, but both sides eventually agreed to an extension. The Pro Bowl wide receiver is staying in Washington.
McLaurin had his best season in 2024, finishing with 13 receiving touchdowns and 1,096 yards on 82 receptions. It marked his fifth straight 1,000-yard season in six NFL seasons. Had he played all 16 games as a rookie, he would have topped 1,000 then, too.
All the on-field signs are pointing toward another solid season for McLaurin. He’s one of the most consistent wide receivers in the game, and now has an elite quarterback throwing to him. The problem is the contract dispute.
Players often perform better on a contract year or a season prior to signing an extension. I don’t believe McLaurin will have a bad year, but he’s bound to take a step back. Thirteen touchdowns is unsustainable, and after a loud offseason, it’s possible that he doesn’t get off to the hottest start.
Even without the contract disputes, he struggled in the first game of 2023 and 2024. Aside from his Week 1 performance as a rookie, he’s tallied no more than 62 receiving yards to start a season. Another slow start could be in store.
