UPDATE: Crow-Armstrong had an MRI done on his knee which came out all clear. He’s day-to-day.

Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong exited Saturday’s game against the Washington Nationals early in the sixth inning. He fouled a ball off his own leg and left due to a right knee contusion, per the team.

The Cubs trailed 2-1 at the time Crow-Armstrong was subbed out. He was 1-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout as well.

The 23-year-old outfielder is in the midst of his best season yet on the stat sheet, slashing .254/.293/.496 with 133 hits, 85 RBIs, 84 runs and 28 home runs in 138 games. While he’s slumped as of late, Crow-Armstrong has played a crucial role in the Cubs’ success this year and earned the first All-Star appearance of his young career with his power hitting and defensive prowess.

The Cubs are 81-60 and maintain a five-game lead in the NL Wild Card race entering the season’s home stretch.
