The last time Jalen Hurts was on an NFL field, it was a scene of jubilation, as his Philadelphia Eagles celebrated their 40-22 triumph in the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs. Hurts completed 17 of his 22 passes for 221 yards, two touchdowns, and one pick, adding 11 carries for 72 yards an an additional score and was named Super Bowl MVP.
Seven months later, Hurts will lead the Eagles into a new season with an 8:20 p.m. home clash against the Dallas Cowboys. Philadelphia opens the season with the third-shortest odds (+700) to win Super Bowl 2026, and the Eagles also have -145 odds to become the first repeat winner of the NFC East since the 2001-04 Philadelphia squad.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, the Eagles are 8.5-point favorites for tonight’s game, with the point total set at 47.5. Below, I’ve identified my favorite prop bets centered around Hurts.
Best Jalen Hurts Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Jalen Hurts 50+ Rushing Yards (+140)
Throughout his NFL career, Hurts has developed a reputation as one of the league’s dual-threat quarterbacks. He’s led the league in rushing touchdowns among quarterbacks in each of the past four seasons, and while he’s best known for the “tush push” goal-line play responsible for several his touchdowns, he managed to amass more than 800 rushing yards between the regular season and playoffs in 2024. Several of his best plays in the Super Bowl were unscripted scrambles against Steve Spagnuolo’s blitz.
If Hurts wants to start the 2025 season off on a high note by running the ball effectively, he could hardly ask for a kinder opponent. Last season, Dallas ranked as the second-worst rush defense in football, allowing a league-high 553 yards and 10 scores to quarterbacks, as well as the eighth-most scores to running backs. Trading away perennial All-Pro Micah Parsons, who posted the team’s sixth-highest rush defense grade, won’t help, especially since Kenny Clark had a worse rush defense grade than Parsons and will turn 30 next month.
None of the Cowboys’ other offseason moves should do much to help their run defense. Their other starting defensive tackle, Osa Odighizuwa, struggles mightily in that aspect of the game. New middle linebacker Jack Sanborn did have an above-average run defense grade as a Chicago Bear last season, but the rest of Dallas’ linebacker corps is weak. Philadelphia returned four members of the offensive line that helped Hurts take seven carries for 56 yards and two scores against the Cowboys, losing only Mekhi Becton, the unit’s weakest link.
Jalen Hurts 2+ Passing Touchdowns (+119)
As bad as Dallas’ defense was against opposing rushers, the Cowboys weren’t that great against the pass either, ranking just 19th in coverage. They struggled in particular against wideouts, allowing the sixth-most yards and sixth-most touchdowns to the position during the regular season. Trevon Diggs’ return from knee surgery is a positive surprise, but relying on a cornerback who has suffered season-ending knee injuries in each of the past two seasons and was a merely average coverage defender last season isn’t a guarantee. Kaiir Elam is only marginally better than Diggs in coverage, and 2023 All-Pro First Teamer DaRon Bland allowed a 105.7 passer rating in coverage last season.
Hurts’ receiving core is dangerous. A.J. Brown had the worst of his three seasons with the Eagles in 2024 but still managed to amass 1,079 yards in 13 games during the regular season and add 163 yards and two scores during the playoffs. DeVonta Smith’s 46-yard touchdown catch late in the third quarter of the Super Bowl was arguably Philadelphia’s most iconic play of the season and capped off the Alabama product’s most efficient season. Jahan Dotson should be better in his second season with the Eagles now that he’s had more time in Nick Sirianni’s system. Dallas Goedert is old by tight end standards but still fairly reliable, putting up a career-high 80.8% catch rate last season.
Plus, Dallas has improved on offense, as Dak Prescott is healthy again and George Pickens now pairs with CeeDee Lamb as one of the league’s most dangerous big-play duos. It’s easy to forget after the Cowboys’ struggles in 2024, but Dallas won the division in 2023 behind Prescott’s MVP-caliber season and still has enough talent to stay in the game long enough to force Hurts to keep throwing. Last season’s Week 10 clash was a blowout in which Hurts managed two touchdowns despite attempting just 20 passes, and I like his odds of throwing more than that tonight.
