Football is back, and it comes with a major rivalry matchup as the Eagles host the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football. Philadelphia is coming off a Super Bowl victory, its second in franchise history. Meanwhile, the Cowboys finished 7-10 last season, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2020.

Smith is one of the best WR2s in the NFL and would be a first option on many squads. He plays for Philadelphia, however, which has A.J. Brown in the wide receiver room. Nonetheless, it hasn’t stopped Smith from producing four consecutive strong seasons.
He’s recorded over 4,000 receiving yards in his four-year career, topping 1,000 yards twice. He was on pace to hit 1,000 again last year, but he only played 13 games, finishing at 833 yards. Despite the limited games, Smith set a new career-high in touchdowns with eight last season.
He did, however, benefit from Brown also playing just 13 games. Smith played two games without Brown, and he tallied seven receptions and 70+ yards on 10 targets in each matchup. It was the second-most receptions and targets he had in a game in 2024.
This is important because Smith’s productivity is typically capped when Brown is on the field. There are outliers, of course, but Smith is almost always the second option out wide. That’s not even including Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts taking rushing opportunities, too.
The offense is so strong that Smith can sometimes get lost among all the talent. There are a lot of mouths to feed, making it sometimes inconsistent when Smith will have a monstrous performance.
Against a Cowboys’ defense that got a whole lot weaker, the Eagles should dominate. Philadelphia did so twice last season with Micah Parsons on the roster. Now that he’s gone, the team should make light work of this Thursday Night Football matchup.
