Jessica Pegula is determined to get revenge in this match. She had an incredible run to the 2024 US Open Final before falling to Sabalenka. Pegula followed up that 2024 run with another fantastic tournament in 2025. Just like Sabalenka, she is yet to drop a set in this tournament, bulldozing her way through lesser competition. However, she has had a fortunate run due to upsets throughout her bracket. Ann Li, the No. 58-ranked player in the world, is the toughest opponent Pegula has faced so far. The World No. 1, Aryna Sabalenka, will be a much different type of test. As not just an American, but someone from the state of New York, Pegula will have the backing of the US Open crowd. However, that might not be enough to beat Sabalenka.

My best bet for this match is for Aryna Sabalenka to win two sets to zero. Sablenka has yet to drop a set in this 2025 US Open, and she is the defending champion here. In last year’s final, she beat Jessica Pegula two sets to zero. This could be a repeat of that performance, where Pegula puts up a good fight but is unable to take down the best player in the world. Sabalenka has much more experience in these big spots. This is just Pegula’s second career Grand Slam singles semifinal. Meanwhile, Sabalenka is making her 13th Grand Slam semifinal appearance. The big match experience and that extra gear that the World No. 1 possesses should propel her to another victory over Pegula.
