First Touchdown Scorer Prop Bets for Cowboys vs. Eagles on Thursday Night Football

Updated:

By: Garion Thorne

These aren’t just prop bets for the first touchdown scorer of Thursday’s contest between the Cowboys and the Eagles, these are prop bets for the first touchdown scorer of the 2025 NFL campaign as a whole. 18 weeks of regular season goodness literally kicks off on September 4 at 8:20 p.m. ET, and you’re covered with thousands of betting opportunities on the DraftKings Sportsbook.

We all know that sweet dopamine that comes with hitting a bet in the first quarter, though. You don’t want “thousands of bets.” You want to know who is going to find the end zone first.

Let’s break down the odds below.

Cowboys vs. Eagles First Touchdown Scorer Prop Bets

Jalen Hurts First Touchdown Scorer (+450)

Odds aside, there’s a couple things to think about when it comes to the Eagles’ red zone tendencies. Last season, Philadelphia scored 56.3% of its touchdowns on the ground — a ratio that not only led the NFL by a significant margin, but made it one of just two teams with more rushing TDs than passing TDs. So that immediately narrows our options to Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley (+390). Now, I’m not going to sit here and suggest that it’s wrong for Barkley to ever have the shortest odds to find the end zone in any capacity, yet I will say that it was Hurts who finished 2024 with the team-lead in rushing attempts inside the five-yard line (18) and rushing touchdowns inside the five-yard line (11). In fact, Hurts’ totals each sat third in the league among all players. That’s how effective the “tush push” has been. Knowing Hurts’ role at the goal line, give me the QB at slightly better odds.

CeeDee Lamb First Touchdown Scorer (+1100)

With the way these odds set up, I don’t think we have to get too complex on the Cowboys’ side of things. When CeeDee Lamb’s first touchdown scorer odds are more than 10/1, I’d say that’s just something you can almost blindly bet. Don’t get me wrong, I understand why things are so lopsided. The Eagles allowed the fewest opponent offensive touchdowns per game of any NFC team last season (1.9) and that included holding Dallas to just 13 total points across two meetings. Granted, neither of those contests was started by Dak Prescott. That feels important. Lamb’s no slouch, either. Since the beginning of 2023, Lamb is tied for the sixth-most receiving TDs in the NFL (18). The Cowboys are a coin flip away from starting with the football. If that happens, Lamb is very live.
