The story of Germany’s tournament so far has been their offense. They’ve scored 100+ points in each of their first two games. As usual, they’re being led by Franz Wagner and Dennis Schröder. The duo has dropped 20+ points apiece in both games. And don’t forget about sniper Andreas Obst, a perfect complementary piece alongside their stars.
Lithuania’s offense hasn’t been quite as explosive, but they’ve scored 94 points in both wins while showing strong defensive cohesion. Unsurprisingly, Jonas Valančiūnas has been the focal point on offense. His combination of post-ups and roll-man finishes gave Montenegro all kinds of problems in their last game.
There are a few solid depth pieces on the Lithuanian squad, most notably Maccabi point guard Rokas Jokubaitis. But Germany holds a clear edge in NBA-level talent. In addition to the Wagner–Schröder duo, Daniel Theis brings years of NBA experience, while Wagner’s Orlando teammate Tristan da Silva is starting to carve out his own role.
