Sawyer Robertson, Baylor vs. Auburn, $9,800
Sawyer Robertson is one of the most undervalued quarterbacks in the sport. He was one of 15 quarterbacks in the country to throw for over 3,000 yards and 28 touchdowns last season. He also protected the ball well, throwing only eight interceptions. In the national spotlight against Auburn on Friday night, Robertson will want to put on a show. Against an SEC opponent, LSU, in Baylor’s bowl game last season, Robertson threw for 445 yards. He should have a huge game to start the 2025 campaign and put his name on the map.

Aidan Chiles, Michigan State vs. W. Michigan, $7,500
Aidan Chiles is poised for a breakout year at Michigan State. Chiles followed his head coach at Oregon State, Jonathan Smith, to Michigan State last season. Chiles had some struggles in his first season with the Spartans, but after gaining all of that experience and getting a full offseason in East Lansing, Chiles should be much improved this season. Against a MAC opponent like Western Michigan, Chiles has a chance to start his season on a positive note and put up some big numbers.
Running Back

Jamal Haynes, Georgia Tech at Colorado, $7,600
Jamal Haynes should have a big game to start this season. Haynes combined for over 2,000 yards over the past two seasons, and Georgia Tech should have a great offense with Jamal Haynes and quarterback Haynes King both returning. Haynes scored 12 touchdowns last season, and he should pick up where he left off to start this season. In last season’s opener, he rushed for 75 yards and two scores. He should have another big opening performance to start 2025 against a Colorado defense full of new faces after losing most of their talent from last season.

Durell Robinson, Auburn at Baylor, $5,300
Durell Robinson is listed as the RB2 on Auburn’s depth chart, but he should get a decent amount of touches in this game anyway. Hugh Freeze has already mentioned that they will likely use multiple quarterbacks in this game as they try to figure out their personnel, meaning they will certainly have no issue with using multiple running backs. Robinson transferred from UConn to Auburn over the offseason with the potential to take a big jump in his career. He should get chances to score in this game, and is worth a value play due to the uncertainty around Auburn’s personnel heading into this game.
Wide Receiver
Stud
Danny Scudero, San Jose State vs. Central Michigan, $6,500
Danny Scudero is hoping to have a breakout season at San Jose State. Scudero was at FCS Sacramento State last season, but transferred in to try to get more national recognition. Last season, Nick Nash was the second-leading receiver in all of college football in this offense. Walker Eget will be back at quarterback for the Spartans, meaning this should be an explosive passing offense once again. Scudero has a great chance to fill Nash’s role and start the season off with a bang.

Chrishon McCray, Michigan State vs. W. Michigan, $4,400
Chrishon McCray was a great receiver at Kent State over the last two seasons and transferred to Michigan State for the 2025 season. Ironically, McCray will be taking on a MAC opponent in his first game with the Spartans. This will be Aidan Chiles’ second season at quarterback for Michigan State, and he could be poised for a breakout year. McCray has a great chance to be one of Chiles’ top targets and could be in for a big first game with his new team.

Haynes King, QB, Georgia Tech at Colorado, $9,800
Haynes King is one of the most underrated returning quarterbacks in the country. He is a great passer who has thrived in Brent Key’s system over the past two years. However, the reason he is so valuable in fantasy is because of his rushing ability. King combined for 21 rushing touchdowns over the past two seasons and should be able to use his legs against Colorado. The Buffaloes lost most of their key contributors on defense from last season, including Travis Hunter. King should be able to pick their defense apart, both through the air and with his legs.

Jalen Buckley, RB, W. Michigan at Michigan State, $5,800
Jalen Buckley will be the primary back for Western Michigan to start the season. He was a breakout star as a freshman, rushing for over 1,000 yards and ten touchdowns. Last season, he missed some time due to injuries. However, when he was on the field, he was a great back for Western Michigan. He is fully healthy to start this season and will be excited to face a major program like Michigan State. Last season, Buckley had 88 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns against Wisconsin to open the season. Buckley proved he can compete against high-level talent and should start this season strong as well.
