The WNBA season continues Tuesday with a two-game slate. The Fever are hosting the Storm and the Sparks are hosting the Mercury. Below, I have featured two of my favorite bets for Tuesday’s WNBA action on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Seattle Storm -4 (-105)
The Storm and Fever are trending in opposite directions right now. Seattle has won four of its last five and the team ranks fourth in net rating since the All-Star break, thanks to some excellent play from Nneka Ogwumike. Since the layoff, the forward is averaging 20.2 PPG on 55% shooting. Meanwhile, Indiana has lost five of its past six and the club ranks 10th in net rating since the All-Star break. Caitlin Clark (groin) remains sidelined and the injuries don’t stop there for the Fever, as both Sophie Cunningham (knee) and Aari McDonald (foot) went down with season-ending injuries this month. Losing Cunningham is especially difficult news for Indiana, as she was playing very well with Clark on the shelf.
Both the Fever and Storm currently hold playoff spots, but these clubs could easily fall out of the playoff picture with only two weeks remaining in the regular season, so Tuesday’s matchup is crucial for both sides. Indiana is 2-0 vs. Seattle this season, but one of these victories came with Clark in the lineup and the other came with both Cunningham and McDonald active in Clark’s absence.
With those three players sidelined this time around, the Storm should defeat the Fever on their home floor and Seattle is a compelling bet to cover this four-point spread. This season, the Storm are a strong 12-8 on the road.
Los Angeles Sparks +3.5 (-108)
Sitting right outside the playoff picture as the No. 9 seed, tonight’s matchup vs. the Mercury is very important for the Sparks, and the highly motivated club should cover this 3.5-point spread. Since the All-Star break, Los Angeles has been great with a 9-4 record, while Phoenix is just 7-7.
Tuesday will be the third time these Western Conference foes have faced each other this season and while the Mercury are 2-0 in this season series, both these tilts were competitive affairs, with Phoenix winning these contests by just three and five points.
Another notable factor here is that the Sparks are the more rested team. Los Angeles hasn’t played since last Wednesday, whereas Phoenix last competed this past Friday. The Sparks have a real chance to upset the Mercury and backing Los Angeles at +3.5 is a safe wager for Tuesday night.
