The NFL season is quickly approaching, and fantasy drafts are in full swing. At DraftKings, you can play an array of different season-long fantasy contests.
This is a look at the fantasy value of all the players in the Los Angeles Rams’ backfield.
Los Angeles Rams Offense
The Rams are hoping to contend in the NFC this season. They won the NFC West last season and were a couple of plays away from beating the eventual Super Bowl champions in Philadelphia. They have most of the same pieces coming back; however, the health of their star quarterback, Matthew Stafford, is in doubt. He has a back issue, which has kept him out most of the summer, and the Rams are keeping things under wraps. Stafford might be ready to play Week 1, but it’s also entirely possible he misses the first few weeks of the season. That would bring in Jimmy Garoppolo as the starting quarterback, a massive downgrade from Stafford.
Sean McVay runs a balanced offense for the most part. However, if Stafford misses time, McVay would likely lean more on his running game. Kyren Williams is one of the most underrated running backs in the league. In standard scoring fantasy leagues, only Kyren Williams and Derrick Henry have been top-six running backs each of the past two seasons. Over the past two seasons, Williams is tied with Jahmyr Gibbs for the most total touchdowns in the NFL. Behind Williams on the depth chart are two young running backs, 2024 third-round pick Blake Corum and 2025 fourth-round pick Jarquez Hunter. Williams will remain the primary back as long as he is healthy, but both young backs should get a chance to prove themselves.
Running Back Handcuff: Blake Corum
Blake Corum showed flashes in his rookie season with the Rams. Kyren Williams managed to stay healthy, playing 16 out of 17 games, only missing the regular-season finale with the division secured. Unfortunately, Blake Corum was also rested for that game apart from two carries, so he didn’t get to prove what he could do in a bigger role. However, Corum was a bellcow back at Michigan. He is accustomed to carrying the load and, once given the chance, should be able to do the same in the NFL. Williams played just 10 games in his rookie season and 12 games in his second season. So, despite staying healthy last season, there is a chance that Williams gets hurt again, which would give Corum a chance at a bigger role.
Corum has performed well so far in the preseason, with Kyren Williams resting ahead of the regular season. Corum and rookie Jarquez Hunter have both seen a decent amount of action and performed well. Unless Hunter does something special, Corum should remain ahead of him on the depth chart. He should see some touches throughout the season and will get a big role if Williams misses any time. That makes Corum the right choice to handcuff with Kyren Williams this season.
